I haven’t pooped since Thursday (it’s now Sunday afternoon) because I have a free house Monday evening so I want to make the most of the time alone but I am STRUGGLING now! I can constantly feel the pressure and want the relief! What’s the longest you’ve ever gone holding it in?

Try this: Lie on your back and raise your legs and arse in the air so you’re almost resting on your shoulders. Bend your knees down towards your chest and perhaps do cycling movements with your legs. If the pressure is caused by wind, that posture can help you fart and relieve it a bit.

Take Immodium and eat lots of cheese. Constipate yourself and get that log as hard and dry as possible. It will get easier to keep it in. And do everything u can to pass gas…try sticking your butt up in the air

Due to a medical condition, I have gone up to 12 days! Panic yes, but no pain. Eventually I go, but there is no urgent feelings to do so and I have to force myself to go. When I go it’s about 5 times in a row.

The first is a bunch of raisin sized turds. These are annoying because of the work with little results. This is now followed by a bit more substance, not loose, but a good sized still very hard poop. A day later, I’ll have a normal poop. The ones we all love to squish and sit on, and go for walks with. On this same day, I’ll go two more times. These are a bit softer with the final one very loose, annoyingly loose because it’s all water.

The cycle then begins again, thus, my pooping life.

For this condition, I have tried stool softeners, fibre pills, drinking prune juice, eating rough stuff (grapes and pairs help), and exercise. The unfortunate part is it’s all related to both the neurological problem plus the meds.

To be honest, I long for the normal poop every day that I used to enjoy even a few years ago.

I can never make it past 4 days . My hole just opens up and my turd starts to poke out.

Obvious reply – Use a glycerin suppository (two of them if you’re in a country where they’re stearate-based instead of gelatin-based). Or alternatively, if you have anodyne additive-free soap (esp. neutrogena), cut a nugget of soap, dip it in water-based lube, and push it up your dooey-chute as it’ll go without disappearing into a lump. It takes fifteen minutes to melt, there will be some irritation, but it’ll probably make you do two big dooey-heaps within the hour (!)
As a child I would never have been allowed to go for 60+ hours without “doing something”. If 48 hours had elapsed since I’d “done a big smell” I would have been hauled across a parent’s lap to have a suppository forcibly painfully inserted.

4-5 days without is the most I can cope with unless I’m really unwell and eat next to nothing and that’s no good. Usually on 2 days or more I’m pushing out toilet clogging loads.

Hi, it is possible to hold the poop even longer. But you have to have a special megacolon which can store a lot. I can go up to two weeks. But it makes my belly hard and very bloated – I look 9 months pregnant. And then I have to give birth…
