    Hello PPL community!

I am new administrator and developer for poopeelife.com.

To keep things very short, there will be a significant change in both visual and operational aspect of website. This will make things function much faster and add lots of more capabilities for our users to engage.

Website had a data integrity problem before i started working on it so there will be data loss on old media files. I strongly recommend everyone to save their media files to re-upload them on our version 2.

Exact date that of applying the change is not decided by us yet but i will keep everyone updated.

We would like to avoid this sacrifice but we had to make this move to protect our users experience in the long term of our community.

I will keep this post open for replies so you can speak out about this or any of your concerns. I will try to answer them all.

    Thanks, Erdem.

Does that mean the website will actually work ? I can’t access any photos or videos. However the premium membership page is up and running…

Yes, website will work without any problem from the point of switching to verison 2. I am manually trying to recover some of the older media files but it is not easy to do because of some technical reasons ( RAID error ).

Thanks for the update it’s appreciated. However when I try to get my files it says not found. Is that due to the data integrity problem? Is there any way for me to get my raw (mp4) files? I appreciate you say there will be data loss but I am not sure if you mean after the transfer or if that’s happend now for old files? Also do we need to save profile pictures as well?

The data which says ” not found ” will not come back and i recommend you to save as much as media files ( pp, uploads, bio etc… ) to your local devices before we make the switch. It won’t be an upgrade but a complete change.

As well as the issue with viewing videos and photos, I cannot view members’ profiles, not even my own. Clicking on “Profile” or a member’s name just produces the message “There has been a critical error on this website”. Does everyone else have this problem too or is it peculiar to me ? 🙂

It is a persistent error on everyone i think, it won’t happen after the switch.

thank you very much for the update, it’s much appreciated.

a real shame about the data loss, but given some of the previous admins of this site i know i can’t blame you at all. i’d rather accept the sacrifice to actually have a functioning community again than the alternative tbh, been sorely missing the core function of this site since the original WPB left years ago.

your efforts are much appreciated, and i’ve noticed some changes already in the short time you’ve been here. so thank you! looking forward to seeing where your ownership goes.

Hi erdem, nice to finally see an update. I’m one of the moderators on the site but I haven’t been able to function as one in quite some time and any correspondence I have attempted in months past with previous admin have not been replied to.

I have tried to send you a private message but site errors have prevented me from doing so, so I’m leaving this reply here to ask if you could contact me privately for a chat? Thanks.

I can’t believe it has taken this long to get to this point, which in fact doesn’t seem any pint at all. How long does it take to revamp a website!

In short – it’s a huge task that most could not even being to undertake.

In defence of the new developer/administrator, he only started this topic a few weeks ago and he clearly has his work cut out. I have been involved for many years in relatively modest website design and I know that taking someone else’s work and updating it requires an enormous amount of time, testing and patience. Anyone who has a similar background will echo these comments. Trying to keep data loss to a minimum with something so complex as this website is a huge task, so let’s just give him the time he needs to carry out the task without adding to the pressure. Hopefully it will be worth the wait and we will soon be thanking him for a job well done.

Agreed be patient and use what’s available for the time being, I’ve been using the activity board to post new content and it would be great if others did the same, maybe as initiative for the designer to see somebody actually uses this site. Forums work as does messaging

Completely agree, I only have fairly basic knowledge in this area but sometimes updating something pre-existing can be harder than starting from scratch. And, lets be honest, this website is not very well designed and I get the impression its not received a lot of care or love in the last few years, so I can only imagine the template he has to work with is messy and will require quite a bit of work to improve while ensuring minimal data loss.

I’m eager to see what will come, whatever it may be!

I applaud that scentement. I wish the new admin all the best and offer my assistance if needed or wanted in any way I can help. This site had many issues and I am really looking forward to it improving.
