I think age, as well as medication, has a lot to do with digestive tolerances. I used to have strong solid poop when younger. Now-a-days, even some pasta sauces will give me the shits. Even some red wines – which used to constipate me. I was on BP meds for years and that’s when it all changed.
I have found that taking a good probiotic can help keep me firm and solid. But overdo that, and here come the runs!
I guess at my age, there’s just a narrow corridor of things that let me enjoy healthy youthful poops.
Oh, and a lot of candy is artificially sweetened with ingredients that have a laxative effect. Sorbitol is one. I read that any “itol” ingredient will cause shits. Gummy Bears are notorious for the effect! There used to be a video on PPL of a guy who ate a large bag of gummy bears and then waited a couple hours and exploded into his pants (or the toilet, I forget which) with shit going everywhere! A lot of people in the comments thought it was hysterical.
